The Greek coastal region of Macedonia is covered in Mediterranean climate. In the Thermaic Gulf the Aegean sea has provided sea salt for thousands of years and can be traced back to antiquity.
Brine is pumped off on a section of coast with particularly high water quality, which can filter out shell remains, sand and impurities through specially developed filter systems.
The sea brine is brought to a higher temperature in stainless steel tanks. As the water evaporates, the salt concentration increases until the salt content and temperature interact perfectly to create small salty petals on the surface of the water, which only need to be carefully harvested and dried.
These mild salt pyramids are of exceptional quality both in taste and appearance, a finger salt in its most beautiful form. Ideal for seasoning at the table. Greek pyramid salt should not be confused with the better known Cypriot pyramid flakes.
